According to donor worn by Captain Charles Maus, Company C, 77th Illinois Infantry. Who lived near Hanna City Illinois with the Pinkerton Family. However, no Maus shows on the rolls for the 77th. A Charles T. Maus shows as Quarter master Sargent later promoted to 2nd Lt and 1st Lt in the 11 Cavalry. More research needed.
