PHS MISSION
The mission of the Peoria Historical Society is to preserve, share, and celebrate the stories of the Peoria area.
Founded in 1934, the Peoria Historical Society is the only local institution that focuses exclusively on preserving, sharing, and celebrating the history and stories of the Peoria area. We do this by:
• maintaining, operating, and offering public tours of Peoria’s only historic house museums
• conserving and showcasing items from a collection of more than 65,000 artworks, artifacts, and objects, all related to Peoria history
• delivering high quality educational programs to the public, including lectures, exhibitions, bus tours, building and house tours, publications, and more
• creating new initiatives that tell the stories of the diverse communities that make up our area
