An envelope in which Robert Heinz sent his father a Father’s Day card on June 17th, 1944. The return address on the envelope is as follows. The first line reads, “Pfc (private first class) R. A. Heinz 16120335.” The second line reads, “Co. I 394th Inf.” The third line reads, “A. P. O. (army post office) 449 99th D___” (illegible). The fourth line reads, “Camp Maxey, Texas.” The address of the envelope is as follows. Teh first line reads, “Mr. R. J. Heinz.” The second line reads, “Henry, Illinois.” The envelope is postmarked, “Came Paxey, Texas, Jun 17, 1944 11:30 AM.” In teh upper right corner, rather then there being a stamp, the ord “free” is written. The lines which are normaly over the stamp are below the “free.” The back of thr envelope has some lines similar to those that normaly go through a stamp printed on it. The envelope is open on the left side and on part of the top. It apppears that the letter was opened from the side.
