“The Memoirs of Miss Margaret Kearney,” edited by Dean D. Johnson. The memoirs were Johnson’s idea and he helped Margaret Kearney with the process. “She was born February 23, 1912, in Cornell to Ernest and Florence Russell Kearney (died June 21, 2000). She was a social worker for Neighborhood House for ten years. Prior to that, she worked for South Side Mission for 35 years as an activity director, later serving as executive director. Kearney was a graduate of Bradley University and attended Baptist Missionary Training School in Chicago.” The book includes some of Kearney’s early life with a focus on her mission work.
