Aaron Wilson Oakford, long a member of the Peoria Historical Society, compiled much information regarding Peoria’s history. In 1963, he and Mrs. Oakford presented to the society, “The Peoria Story”, a 34-volume loose leaf history of Peoria.

Mr. Oakford’s described these works as “A picture story from mid-America about the lives and family ties of folks in Peoria, Illinois.” This work was compiled from 1949 through 1957.
