This pine ironing board has a white cotton cover which lays over a felted batting or other padding. This ironing board did not have legs, but was supported by the kitchen table on one end and a kitchen chair at the other. The ironing board was padded with an old blanket which was tacked on, and then covered with muslin. Long boards were used for ironing full-length skirts, sheets, and tablecloths.
