This set of six Late-Empire Early Victorian side chairs is composed of elongated U-shape backs with a central vase shaped splat. The seats are slip seats. The legs are cyma curved in the front, and the rear legs are saber curbed. Upholstery fabric is dark green. Wood is walnut and mahogany. Crotch grain mahogany veneer decorates the chair backs. This set of chairs came from the home of John R. Zeigler. Zeigler was a Captain in the Civil War – serving in Co. E, 11th Illinois Cavalry.
