This ballon back chair with an open back resembling a spherical balloon is composed of uprights which are connected by a curved cross splat. The open back loop is finger molded and it has a carved cresting. The cross splat has a carved motif. the seat is upholstered; it has serpentine front and sides. The legs are cabriole with incised beading and rudimentary feet. Rear legs are square and slightly tapering. The uprights on these chairs match a single upright discovered by Jon Austin in January, 1980.
