Two hard wood blocks are connected by two wooden screws, one in the center and the other near the back of the jaws. The work to be clamped is placed in the jaw opening, the two screws are adjusted to bring the blocks nearly parallel, and the final clamping is done by tightening the outer screw, thus forcing the jaws together.
