Jacket - 2007.24.4

U.S. Army jacket of Thorton McGrew from WWI. It is dark green with four front pockets and metal buttons with the United States seal on them. At the collar are two different buttons. One says “US 4” (4th Division) and the other has “TM” over two crossed cannons(4th Trench Mortar Battery). On the right arm is a Corporal Chevron, and on the left arm are three patches. Toward the top of the left arm is a red chevron(Discharge patch) with a yellow and red mortar bomb patch(Trench Mortar) underneath it. At the bottom of the left arm is a blue chevron.(less than 6 months in theatre of operations) Some division had no division patch authorized until after armistice.
