This mahogany case contains various saws and scalpels used in surgery. Each piece is marked: “Shepard & Dusley. N.Y.”

a.) The case has brass, inset corners and a nameplate. It is lined in purple velveteen.
b.) Is a tourniquet. It is a brown belt attached to a metal clamp. When the clamp is turned, the tourniquet tightens.
c.) Surgical Silk, wrapped in blue cardboard and is held in a brown case with a light green descriptive card attached to the front which says: “Archibald Turner & Cos, Surgical Silk Cord.”
d.) is a bone dust brush, the handle is black and bristles yellow.
e.) are artery/bullet forceps.
f.) is a lever elevator, it is a medium sized, flat metal with two curves in it, at the tip there are grooves for gripping. These are used to separate tissue from bone.
g.) is a surgical hook/probe with a black handle.
h.) is a scalpel with black handle.
i.) is a large Catilin with a black handle used to make incisions in two directions.
j.) is a Liston Amputation Knife with a black handle.
k.) is a longer Liston Amputation Knife with a black handle.
l.) is a lifting back metacarpal saw with a brass black handle. Used for cutting fingers and tendons.
m.) is a Hey Saw used for cutting cranial bone and duramater.
n.) is a black wooden handle for the trephine saw, it as a square hole at C for connection.
o.) is a trephine, it has a brass handle, blue head with teeth and an adjustable length blade inside. Used for cutting cranial bone for operation, or relief of cranial pressure.
p.) is a Capital-style bone-saw, with an index finger hole and thumb rest on back of the black blade handle.
q.) are bone cutting forceps, silver with a grooved handle.
