Dear Folks:-
Will try and drop
you a few lines this after noon
as I am going to be working nites
from tonight on and this will
be my best opportunity. It is rather
hard to write when one does not
receive any mail we have not
had a bit of mail since Christmas
they say mail from the state for
the 72nd is a thing of the past.
according to that we had ought
to be leaveing before long but we have
heard nothing of it up to the present
time. The only mail that we get
here is mail from this side frog
mail as we call it. As every body
here call the french frogs. and I
havent heard from Frank for six
weeks or more that makes me”

think he has started home. I
would like to know. I have tried
several times to find out but
failed each time. I am felling find
and am all O.K. other wise only
I would like to be back in the states
am now what we could call home
sick but sort of have a longing
for the good old U.S. they have
a lot of amusements here in the
theater for the soldiers. But
when once sees a transport of
good american boy leaveing for
home it makes him stop and
think how nice it would be
to go along. There are more soldiers
and sailors here than some people
have hay. There are about 8000 here
at presant and the say there
are a half million to pass through”

here on there way home. I wrote
Luilla a letteryesterday. of all the
fellow here at presant I have never
seen one that I knew. There are
a couple of transports here in
the harbor now but dont think
we will be lucky enough to take
one of them. Well I dont know
of much more to write so will
close for this time hoping to
be in the good old U.S before long
and hope to hear from you.
