“William Andrew Herron,” an oil painting on stretched oval shaped canvas, done by American artist, Allen Smith Jr. (1810-1890). The inscription on the back is “Allen Smith Jr.” over “Painter” over “1862” in artist’s hand, over “William Andrew Herron” over “1823.” The framed dimensions of the painting are 23″ high by 19 1/2″ wide. “The painting is mounted in its original semi ornate gold oval Period frame.” It is a “vertical oval shaped composition depicting a portrait of a young brown haired and neatly bearded gentleman attired in a black coat, white high collared shirt and blue bow tie. His is posed with his shoulders sitting to the viewer’s left while his face looks straight ahead. The back ground behind him is slightly backlit and modulates from a light brown at the viewer’s left to a darker brown at the viewer’s right.”
