The secretary has a bookcase top, slant front desk section, and 3 drawer bureau base. The pediment is ornamented with a carved relief of a shield surrounded by leaves. There are finials at corners. The doors have glass panels framed by concave moldings. The interior has four shelves . The bookcase top rests on a slant front writing sections which is decorated with molding and has a center-raises, ornamented cartouche. The writing sections has a simulated leather writing surface. The re of the interior has pigeon holes and small drawers. The bureau base has three drawers with ornamented handles and cartouche keyholes. THe base has a molded edge. The base piece is marked “G. Henshaw & Sons, makers. 26 Sycamore St. Cincinnati Ohio.”
