She is looking over the shoulder of the seated woman to read a letter. The standing woman has her hair pulled back, and she is wearing a dark dress with puffed sleeves, broach, and ornaments. The seated woman is wearing a plaid dress with plain trim. There are buttons down the center of the top, lace at her throat, and a broach. Her hair is up. She is holding a letter in her hands and the envelope is on her lap. The bottom has been cut off, and the photographer’s business along with it. Found in the top slot of a two-image page. Caption reads, “Jennie Mae Castner Noyes” (seated woman).
